Description:
· This PDF contains four double-sided (front and back) postcards to oppose new nuclear weapons and the U.S. nuclear weapons complex facilities that are proposed in order to design and build the new nukes.
· Two of the four postcards are addressed to YOUR state's U.S. Senators (you write in the names). One of the postcards is addressed to YOUR Congressional Representative (you write in the name). One postcard is addressed to the U.S. Dept. of Energy (DOE) and is intended to be included in the DOE public comment period on its "Complex 2030" plan to design and build new nuclear weapons (also known as Bombplex).
How to make and use the postcards:
1. Print out the PDF (both pages).
2. Copy on card stock -- you choose the color!
3. Go forth and get people to SIGN all four postcards on the page. Get as many people as you can to sign!
4. If you are obtaining many hundreds of signatures, we recommend having your printer perforate between the postcards during the printing process. That way, it is easy to tear each of the 4 double-sided postcards apart.
5. If you are printing a more modest number of postcards (or if you are simply copying them yourself on card stock), then just cut them apart with scissors after you get them signed by members of the public. No problem!
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are collecting signatures at your August Hiroshima / Nagasaki commemoration -- or at any time BEFORE the official Dept. of Energy public comment period begins -- then please mail in the three postcards that go to Congress immediately -- and hold on to the 4th one that is addressed to the Dept. of Energy.
YOU CAN EITHER (1) HAND IN THE DEPT. OF ENERGY POSTCARDS YOU HAVE COLLECTED AT A PUBLIC HEARING ON COMPLEX 2030 IN YOUR COMMUNITY THIS FALL, or (2) MAIL THEM TO THE GOVERNMENT WHEN THE HEARINGS BEGIN -- THEY ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN OCTOBER 2007, or (3) MAIL THEM ALL IN A BIG MANILA ENVELOPE TO TRI-VALLEY CARES, 2582 OLD FIRST STREET, LIVERMORE, CA 94551 AND WE WILL HAND THEM IN TO THE DEPT. OF ENERGY FOR YOU.
PLEASE DO NOT MAIL IN THE POSTCARDS ADDRESSED TO THE DEPT. OF ENERGY BEFORE THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS IN OCTOBER 2007.
